Kluane National Park is one of Canada's wilderness jewels - a 22,000 sq. km protected area known for Mount Logan, sweeping views, large valley glaciers, and healthy populations of large mammals like grizzly bears and Dall sheep. Kluane is part of the largest international protected area in the world: together, four interconnecting wilderness parks in British Columbia, Alaska and the Yukon are designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

"On one journey, the park offered us a surprise from the other side of the world. At the time we attributed the pink glow in the sky to forest fires. But it turned out that global wind currents carried clouds of dust to northern Canada from a desert storm in Mongolia. The Yukon was bathed in desert dust - a photographer's dream. This herd of mountain goats was so peaceful and nonchalant as they gazed out over one of the most surreal settings I've ever experienced."

'Mountain Goats and Glaciers' is an award-winning image, winning the Landscape category in the 2003 Banff Mountain Photography Competition.
